Kwara PDP Accuses Governor AbdulRazaq Of Political Vendetta Over Scrapping Of Saraki Project

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has strongly criticized Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for dissolving the Kwara State Community and Social Development Agency (KWASCDA), a World Bank-supported initiative introduced by former Governor Bukola Saraki.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the PDP condemned the removal of KWASCDA from the upcoming NG-CARES programme, a Federal Government and World Bank intervention aimed at improving rural infrastructure. Olusegun Adewara, the PDP’s Publicity Secretary, stated that the removal of KWASCDA was carried out without public justification, despite the agency’s proven success in other states. The party described the move as a “grave disservice” to the rural communities that had previously benefited from infrastructure projects such as boreholes, classrooms, transformers, and sanitation facilities.

Established in 2009 by former Governor Bukola Saraki and continued by his successor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, KWASCDA has been instrumental in providing critical amenities to rural areas. The PDP alleged that the termination of the agency was driven by political motives, impacting communities that had already submitted project requests for 2024.

The PDP further accused the AbdulRazaq administration of prioritizing political interests over the welfare of the people. The party claimed that certain government officials, in collaboration with elements within KWASCDA, conspired to terminate the agency to undermine the legacy of the Saraki administration.

Calling the decision an “ill-conceived policy” and “anti-people,” the PDP demanded the immediate reversal of the move. It also urged the World Bank, the Federal Government, and civil society groups to investigate the matter to ensure that rural communities in Kwara are not denied vital development opportunities.

The PDP maintained that the people of Kwara deserve better governance and vowed to continue advocating for the collective progress of the state.
