Terror Reigns In Borno While Soldiers Idle In Rivers – Ex-DSS Boss Blasts FG
A former Assistant Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Dennis Amachree, has questioned the continued deployment of military troops in Rivers State under the guise of a state of emergency, urging that the soldiers be urgently redirected to Borno State where terrorist activities are worsening……..READ MORE
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Amachree described the Rivers deployment as unnecessary, insisting that Borno State—with its daily reports of killings, kidnappings, and attacks by Boko Haram and ISWAP—is in dire need of military reinforcement.
“Our territorial integrity is under threat, and the reputational damage is high,” he warned. “Why are soldiers in Rivers when we need them desperately in Borno? That’s where a state of emergency is needed right now.”
He also stressed the importance of Governor Babagana Zulum’s recent alarm over the growing strength of terrorists in Borno, calling for the federal government to treat the situation with the urgency it deserves.
Borno State, which shares borders with Sahel nations, continues to suffer heavy losses from insurgent attacks. Thousands of civilians have been killed or displaced, with many forced into IDP camps across the region.
Amachree’s comments add to growing public pressure for a security strategy realignment, as Nigerians demand action over the spiraling violence in the North-East.
