Benue Governor Alia Orders Arrest Over Killing of Kano Travellers in Makurdi

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has strongly condemned the brutal killing of two Kano State indigenes in the Agan community of Makurdi, calling the act “barbaric and unacceptable.”

According to a security source, the victims, who were transporting goods to the eastern part of Nigeria, had parked their truck to purchase a recharge card when they were attacked and killed around 11 p.m. on Monday by suspected local youths.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Kula Tersoo, Governor Alia expressed his outrage and immediately ordered security agencies to track down those responsible. The police have since arrested five suspects in connection with the attack.

Alia lamented the senseless violence, stressing that such criminal behavior goes against the peaceful and hospitable nature of the Benue people.

“We must not allow a few bad elements to tarnish our image. These criminals must be identified and brought to justice,” he stated firmly.

Extending condolences to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State, Alia assured both the Kano government and the victims’ families that justice would be served without delay.
