Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi State has issued a firm warning to Governor Bala Mohammed against defecting to the party. According to reports, Mohammed’s planned move followed discussions with President Bola Tinubu and other APC leaders, reportedly centered on a potential power-sharing arrangement.

However, the Bauchi APC caucus and key stakeholders have collectively rejected the governor’s proposed defection. Senator Samaila Dahuwa confirmed the development after a caucus meeting held in Abuja. The party stated that admitting Mohammed could jeopardize its cohesion, credibility, and electoral prospects.

The group highlighted that the governor had previously made statements critical of both the President and the APC, without offering retractions or seeking reconciliation. Party officials emphasized that bringing him into the fold under these circumstances would undermine unity and stability in Bauchi State.

The caucus also criticized the lack of consultation with major stakeholders before Mohammed’s decision, describing it as inconsistent with internal party democracy. The stakeholders have indicated that their position will be formally communicated to party authorities, stressing the need for adherence to due process and respect for established party structures.

Despite the resistance, sources suggest that Mohammed is moving forward with plans to formally join the APC in the coming days.
