APC Primaries: Full List Of Reps Members Who Secured Return Tickets, State-By-State Breakdown

According to Ireporter Online, the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, across various states of the federation produced a mix of re-elected lawmakers, new entrants, and notable defeats as several political heavyweights secured tickets for the 2027 House of Representatives elections.

The exercise saw key figures such as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, his deputy Benjamin Kalu, Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Mudasiru Obasa, and Chairman of the House Committee on Finance James Faleke all clinch return tickets to contest again. Also among those who emerged victorious were Yusuf Buhari, son of late former President Muhammadu Buhari; Yusuf Gagdi; Jimi Benson; Leke Abejide; former Minority Leader Ndudi Elumelu; and Olumide Osoba, son of former Ogun State Governor Olusegun Osoba. While some incumbents retained their positions, others like House Majority Leader Julius Ihonvbere lost their bids to return to the Green Chamber.

The primaries, which recorded high voter turnout in many areas, were largely peaceful across several states, although isolated incidents of violence, protests, and allegations of manipulation were reported in parts of Kaduna and Osun States, while disruptions were also recorded in Jos South, Plateau State.

In Kaduna State, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen was returned unopposed for Zaria Federal Constituency, where he expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him and reaffirmed his commitment to effective representation and continued support for President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Other winners in the state included Sadiq Ango Abdullahi in Sabon Gari, Amos Gwamna Magaji in Zango Kataf/Jaba, Samaila Abdul Suleiman in Kaduna North, Benjamin Gugong in Kaura, Mukhtar Zakarin Chiawai in Kauru, Felix Joseph Bagudu in Kachia, Daniel Amos in Jema’a/Sanga, and Gabriel Salle in Kagarko/Kachia. However, controversy trailed the Kaduna North primary, where allegations of disenfranchisement and irregularities were raised by some aspirants, including claims that materials did not reach certain polling units. Similar complaints were also recorded in Igabi Federal Constituency.

In Lagos State, Mudasiru Obasa was returned unopposed for Agege Federal Constituency, while James Faleke secured the ticket for Ikeja/Ojodu. Other winners included Jimi Benson for Ikorodu, Fuad Atanda Lawal for Eti-Osa, Fuad Laguda for Surulere, and Dele Oshinowo for Kosofe after defeating multiple contenders. In Edo State, the primaries produced several upsets as House Majority Leader Julius Ihonvbere lost his bid to Andrew Ijegbai, while Eseosa Iyawe was defeated by former Commissioner Dr Paddy Iyamu. The exercise also saw confusion in Esan West/Igueben/Esan Central where parallel primaries produced competing winners, while Anamero Dekeri emerged victorious in Etsako and other candidates secured tickets across various constituencies.

In Delta State, Ndudi Elumelu secured the APC ticket for Aniocha/Oshimili, while other winners included Erhiatake Suenu Ibori, Thomas Ereyitomi, Francis Waive, Ramson Onoyake, Basil Ganagana, and Ajirioghene Ukodhiko. Governor Sheriff Oborevwori commended the peaceful conduct of the exercise, describing it as a reflection of party unity and growing strength ahead of 2027.

Ogun State also witnessed the emergence of Olumide Osoba as candidate for Owode/Abeokuta North/Odeda Federal Constituency, alongside Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, Afolabi Afuwape, and Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye in other constituencies. In Kogi State, Leke Abejide secured the APC ticket unopposed for Yagba Federal Constituency following his recent defection, while other candidates emerged across Dekina/Bassa, Lokoja/Kotonkarfe, and Ajaokuta constituencies.

In Plateau State, Yusuf Gagdi was endorsed as the APC candidate for Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency after consultations, while also acknowledging support from key party stakeholders. Jigawa State produced five returning House of Representatives members, all of whom secured tickets unopposed or through decisive victories in their respective constituencies.

In Niger State, Adamu Abubakar, son of former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar, emerged victorious in Chanchaga Federal Constituency after polling a wide margin over his closest rival, while Abdullahi Mahmud and Prof. Yakubu Auna also secured tickets in Lapai and Magama/Rijau Federal Constituencies respectively.

The APC primaries across several other states were still being concluded or awaited as of press time, with party officials describing the exercise as largely successful despite isolated complaints and procedural disputes in some areas.
