BREAKING: Prominent Lagos Monarch Passes Away

According to reports, the first-class monarch passed away peacefully in the early hours of Thursday at his residence in Ogudu. Sources within the palace confirmed the development but did not reveal the exact cause of his death.

A palace insider reportedly disclosed that the monarch departed peacefully, a development that has since left residents, chiefs and sympathisers in deep sorrow.

The late monarch’s death has triggered an outpouring of tributes from members of the community and well-wishers who described him as a humble, wise and dedicated leader committed to the unity and progress of Ogudu land.

In honour of the deceased monarch, several social and commercial activities within the community, including market operations, were said to have been scaled down in line with Yoruba traditional rites and customs.

Oba Fashola ascended the throne about four years ago and earned widespread admiration for promoting peace, cultural heritage and community development during his reign. He was also widely regarded as an approachable ruler who prioritised the welfare of his people.

Meanwhile, reports also emerged that American media entrepreneur and founder of Cable News Network (CNN), Ted Turner, has died at the age of 87.

A statement released by Turner Enterprises disclosed that the businessman died after battling Lewy body dementia, a progressive neurological disorder. Paying tribute to the late media mogul, CNN Chairman and CEO Mark Thompson described Turner as a visionary and committed leader whose impact on global media remains significant.
