Reality television personality and former Big Brother Naija housemate, Tochi Okechukwu, has ignited a storm of reactions after declaring that ₦1 million is no longer considered significant in today’s Nigeria. He made the comment in a reflective Instagram post where he recalled a time when such an amount used to symbolize financial breakthrough.

Tochi stated that the tide has turned dramatically, noting that it’s now common for people to have ₦1 million sitting in their bank accounts. According to him, the figure that once represented a major milestone has become something almost everyone possesses, underscoring the worsening depreciation of the naira. He wrote: “I remember when ₦1 million Naira was a big deal, now everyone has it in their bank account.”

The former BBNaija star’s statement touched off online discussions, with many social media users debating the current purchasing power of the naira, inflation, and the cost of living that continues to skyrocket across the country.
