El Rufai condemns lynching of two herders in Birnin Gwari

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru, has lashed out at former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, urging him to get a job and stop causing distractions for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to IReporter Online, Basiru made this statement during a Sunday interview with Tribune, where he questioned El-Rufai’s motive behind launching premature political attacks ahead of the 2027 elections.

Basiru warned that it was unnecessary and disruptive for El-Rufai to begin political hostilities when the next electoral cycle was still far off.

He specifically criticized El-Rufai’s comments made in Sokoto on Saturday, where the former governor, speaking at a grassroots mobilisation event for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), called on Nigerians to reject the APC in the next election and labeled the Tinubu administration as incapable of steering the country forward.

Responding sharply, Basiru said, according to IReporter Online, “Why is El-Rufai in a hurry? The 2027 elections are still a long way off. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) won’t even release the guidelines until February 2026.”

He added that El-Rufai should “go and find a job,” suggesting he return to academia or spend time with his grandchildren instead of distracting both the APC and the President from the serious task of governance.

According to IReporter Online, Basiru emphasized that while the APC remains focused on internal restructuring and national development, El-Rufai appears to be chasing shadows with divisive rhetoric that offers no constructive alternative to Nigerians.
