“No More Business As Usual — Rivers Police Elevate Standards With Pro Training Blitz!”
The Rivers State Police Command has taken a significant step towards deepening professionalism within its ranks by organizing a comprehensive capacity-building lecture for its officers and men.
According to iReporter Online, the lecture, spearheaded by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, was designed to enhance operational capacity, improve service delivery, and instill a culture of excellence across the Command.
Held at the Police Officers Mess in Port Harcourt, the event featured seasoned resource persons drawn from the Police Management Team and allied sectors.
The training addressed a wide range of critical topics aimed at equipping officers with the knowledge and tools to perform their duties more effectively.
According to iReporter Online, Mrs. Inyam Ozioma, Assistant Director in the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation, delivered an enlightening session on the “Effective Management of Arms and Ammunition/Exhibits and Financial Resources,” underscoring the need for transparency and accountability in police operations.
Superintendent of Police and Command Spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that the lecture also covered stress management and wellness. ACP (Dr.) Ahunanya Nnaed led this session, emphasizing the importance of regular health checks for officers.
CSP Stephen Onwochei further delivered a detailed lecture on legal innovations, focusing on confessional statements, proper case file documentation, and court admissibility procedures.
The capacity-building event also featured DCP Samuel Etaifo-Erale, who explained Orderly Room Trial Procedures, aimed at improving disciplinary practices within the Force.
According to iReporter Online, the lecture also served as a platform to update officers on current reforms, including the Inspector-General of Police’s pledge to pull the Nigeria Police Force out of the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS), a development expected to boost morale across the ranks.
Iringe-Koko reiterated that the initiative reflects the Command’s unwavering commitment to professional development, ensuring that the Rivers State Police remains a reliable institution in safeguarding lives, upholding justice, and restoring public trust.
