Police Smash Kidnappers’ Den, Rescue Five Children In Adamawa

Barely a month after rescuing 14 abducted children trafficked to Anambra State, the Adamawa State Police Command has again recovered another set of five children abducted from Maiduguri, Borno State, and brought into Adamawa.

According to Ireporter Online, the children were rescued in Mubi Local Government Area following credible intelligence received by the police. In a statement on Sunday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed that the operation was led on September 13, 2025, by the Area Commander in Mubi, ACP Marcos Mancha, who swiftly mobilized his surveillance team and intercepted the children while they were found wandering the streets of the town.

The rescued victims were identified as Adamu Musa (16), Suleiman Idris (10), Suleiman Mohammed (11), Dauda Yahaya (11), and Mohammed Alhassan (11), all residents of Gwange in Maiduguri, Borno State. Investigations revealed that they had been unlawfully taken from Maiduguri by one Aliga Suleiman of Sabon Layi, Gwange, who is currently on the run. Police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the suspect.

Commending the Mubi Area Commander and his team for the successful operation, Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case, pursue the arrest of the fleeing suspect, and facilitate the safe reunion of the children with their families.

The Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property in the state, while assuring residents that efforts were being intensified to clamp down on abductions and child trafficking rings.

Observers note that Adamawa, which shares borders with Borno, has become a vulnerable route for traffickers due to insecurity, displacement, and porous entry points. Just last month, 14 abducted children were rescued in Adamawa while being transported to Anambra State for exploitation, highlighting the persistent threat of child trafficking across northern Nigeria.
