The Lagos State Government has announced that repair works on a section of Ozumba Mbadiwe Road, from Bonny Camp junction, will commence on Monday, September 15, 2025.

According to the Ministry of Transportation, the maintenance exercise is scheduled to last one week, concluding on Sunday, September 21, 2025. The works will be carried out nightly from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. to minimize disruption to daytime traffic.

Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, who issued the advisory on Sunday, explained that the night schedule was deliberately chosen to reduce inconvenience for motorists and businesses that rely on the busy corridor during daytime hours. He urged road users to exercise patience and understanding throughout the duration of the works.

“Ozumba Mbadiwe Road is a vital route linking Victoria Island with other parts of Lagos. This rehabilitation is part of our ongoing efforts to maintain and enhance the state’s road infrastructure. We call on motorists to cooperate with traffic officers and bear with us during this brief period,” Osiyemi stated.

The road, a key connector for commuters traveling from the Lekki axis into Victoria Island and Ikoyi, frequently experiences heavy traffic during peak hours. Previous repairs along the corridor have often caused congestion, which informed the government’s decision to carry out the current works at night.

Authorities expressed confidence that, upon completion, the repairs will make the road safer and more navigable for all types of vehicles.
