FOI Bill: Federal Lawmaker Dennis Idahosa Excites Civil Society Organizations On Project Tour (photos)
“Show me your lawmaker and I will tell you how lucky you are”- Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah.
This has always been my favorite quote in the course of my coverage of legislative activities by lawmakers both in the States and at the Federal level. Legislative responsibility to the people is a key obligation by every single lawmaker towards their constituents.
Sadly enough so many Nigerians are skeptical about their lawmakers as they see them as locust that feeds on the blood of helpless Nigerians, they see them as absentee representatives both on the floor of the house and at their constituency, kickboxers, and fighters that have turned their hollow chambers to fighting arenas. Sharing of money and reveling in wild parties seems to be their hubby.

Fortunately, not all legislators fall into such categories, here are 3 keys characteristics used in rating a lawmaker.
Care, Commitment, and Communication.
Effective legislation is about care for constituents, you must pay attention to your constituents, you must find the right solution to the right problem.
Legislators need to have the political will, dogged commitment, and relentless resilience to keep serving the Nigerian people and lastly, legislators must have effective communication with their constituents. They must be good at listening and feeling the pulse of their people.
This is where the lawmaker representing Ovia Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon Dennis Idahosa has done exceedingly well. Yesterday the youthful lawmaker took the civil society organizations on a tour of part of his constituency projects both ongoing and completed in Ovia Federal Constituency.
Below were projects visited by the lawmaker and members of the civil society organizations.
Ekosodin Secondary School, Ezuwarha Primary School, Iyowa, Fencing of Ikhaladeran Primary School, Okada and Obanosa Primary School Iyekezen, all in Ovia North East LGA; Ongoing Construction of Townhall in Usen, Aden bridge in Ugbogui, Evbuonogbo Secondary School, Okoro Primary School, Okoro II, Iguobazuwa Town Hall, Skill Acquisition centers in Iguobazuwa and Udo, all in Ovia Southwest LGA via North East LGA.
Dennis Idahosa has shown us the effectiveness of the Freedom Of information bill and no doubt the Civil Society Organisations were impressed with what they saw.
