KWAM 1’s Bid For Awujale Throne Falters As Royal Family Denies Ancestral Connection

According to Ireporter Online, the bid by Fuji legend Otunba Wasiu Ayinde Anifowoshe, popularly known as KWAM 1, to ascend the Awujale throne of Ijebu-Ode has encountered a significant obstacle as the Jadiara Royal Family has openly distanced itself from him.

The development follows a formal statement from the Jadiara Royal House, a branch of the Fusengbuwa Ruling Family—currently next in line to produce the next Awujale—firmly denying any ancestral or historical ties to the musician. The clarification, dated December 7, 2025, was issued in Ijebu-Ode by the head of the royal house, Otunba Prince Akinola Odedina.

Odedina stated that extensive checks were conducted, and no record—whether archaeological, documented, or based on oral tradition—linked KWAM 1 to the Jadiara lineage, contrary to the musician’s public claims. He explained that the statement became necessary due to growing public interest after KWAM 1 declared his desire to occupy the revered throne and reportedly associated his eligibility with the Jadiara family.

He added that the musician had yet to present any form or supporting documents to substantiate his claim to the lineage, despite expectations that he would do so.

The statement was circulated to several key government institutions, including the Office of the Executive Governor, the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, and the Chairman of the Awujale Interregnum Administration Council.

The royal house also urged the leadership of the Fusengbuwa Ruling Family to refrain from engaging with KWAM 1 on matters regarding genealogical eligibility for the Awujale throne or any supposed connection to the Fusengbuwa dynasty.

Odedina noted that although the Chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House may have issued a nomination form to KWAM 1 on the assumption that he would authenticate his roots, the musician is yet to present the required proof. He assured the public that the family would continue to provide updates as the situation develops.
