The black market, also known as the parallel market or Aboki FX, continues to show a significant gap between buying and selling rates for the US dollar in Nigeria. According to Ireporter Online, as of Wednesday, February 18, 2026, Bureau De Change (BDC) operators in Lagos sell a dollar for ₦1,370 while buying it at ₦1,355.

While these rates provide insight into the informal forex market, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) does not recognize parallel market transactions. The CBN has consistently directed individuals seeking foreign exchange to conduct their transactions through authorized banks.

For comparison, the CBN’s official rates for the dollar on the same date ranged from ₦1,328 to ₦1,340. Observers note that actual rates for buying or selling foreign currency may differ, as black market prices fluctuate frequently.
