Abducted Kano LG Official Rescued By DSS

The Department of State Services (DSS) has successfully rescued the Administrative Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Council, Hamza Durya, following his recent abduction in Kano State.

According to an official statement by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, Durya was kidnapped from his residence in Durya village within Kibiya Local Government Area, prompting an immediate response from security agencies.

“The Kano State Government wishes to inform the public of a major breakthrough in the abduction case involving Alhaji Hamza Durya,” the commissioner said.

Waiya revealed that DSS operatives conducted a coordinated operation, leading to the safe release of Durya and the arrest of two suspected kidnappers. The suspects reportedly sustained gunshot injuries during the encounter with security personnel.

Describing the rescue as a significant success, the commissioner commended the professionalism and commitment of the security agencies involved. He also acknowledged the support of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, which he said has greatly enhanced the operational effectiveness of security forces across the state.

The Kano State Government reassured residents of its continued commitment to peace and security, urging citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to authorities. Officials emphasized that cooperation from the public is essential to maintaining safety across all 44 local government areas of the state.
