Two K!lled, Others Injured As Explosion Rocks Plateau

Two persons have been confirmed dead and three others injured following an explosion at a filling station in Daffo community, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State on Friday, April 17, 2026.

According to Ireporter Online, the incident occurred at Natty Filling Station during maintenance work on an underground fuel tank.

Eyewitness accounts, including statements from the Chairman of the Community Peace Observers in the area, Kefas Mallai, revealed that the explosion happened while a welder and his apprentice were working on what was believed to be an empty and safe tank.

Mallai explained that the workers had been engaged to repair a leaking section of the underground tank when the blast suddenly occurred, igniting a fire that killed the two artisans instantly.

He further disclosed that three other individuals who were in close proximity at the time of the incident sustained varying degrees of injuries and were promptly taken to a medical facility for treatment.

Residents of the community were said to have rushed to the scene shortly after the explosion, where they joined sympathisers in the aftermath of the tragic incident.

As of the time of this report, the identities of the deceased and injured victims had not yet been officially released, while relevant authorities were yet to issue a formal statement on the explosion.
