Tinubu Sends Tegbe’s Ministerial Nomination To Senate For Confirmation
According to Ireporter Online, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally written to the Senate requesting the screening and confirmation of Mr. Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The request was presented during plenary on Tuesday through a letter read by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio. In the correspondence, President Tinubu explained that the nomination aligns with the constitutional provisions guiding ministerial appointments.
The letter stated: “In compliance with the provisions of section 147 subsection 2 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, I am pleased to forward for confirmation by the Senate the nomination of Mr Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. While I hope this request will receive the expeditious consideration of the Senate, please accept, Distinguished Senate President, Distinguished Senators, the assurances of my highest regards.”
Senate President Akpabio assured that the request would be given prompt attention and subsequently referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole for further legislative consideration.
Mr. Tegbe, an indigene of Oyo State, is a seasoned fiscal and economic reform expert with more than 35 years of experience spanning both the public and private sectors. He previously served as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa, where he led key initiatives in fiscal policy reform, governance improvement, and institutional transformation. He has also provided advisory services to government institutions and private organisations on regulatory frameworks, strategic reforms, and investment structuring.
His nomination comes in the wake of the resignation of Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down as Minister of Power to pursue his governorship ambition in Oyo State.
