We Know Where South Africans Are, We Can Strike Back – Ningi Issues Strong Warning

According to Ireporter Online, the Nigerian Senate has issued a strong caution to the South African government over renewed cases of xenophobic attacks reportedly targeting Nigerians living in the country. Lawmakers warned that Nigeria may be compelled to consider reciprocal diplomatic and economic measures if urgent steps are not taken to address the situation.

During plenary, Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi representing Bauchi Central expressed deep concern over the handling of the issue by South African authorities. He noted that Nigerians have options at their disposal should the alleged attacks persist, stressing that the country cannot continue to tolerate harm against its citizens abroad. He further suggested that Nigerians are widely present across Africa, indicating that any continued hostility could attract broader consequences.

In a similar vein, former Edo State Governor and Senator Adams Oshiomhole called on the Federal Government to adopt a firmer stance in response to the reported attacks. He advocated for possible retaliatory economic actions against major South African-owned businesses operating in Nigeria, including MTN and DSTV, arguing that diplomatic firmness was necessary to protect Nigerian citizens.

Oshiomhole maintained that Nigeria must not accept repeated violence against its nationals, insisting that while legal processes should be respected, the safety and dignity of Nigerians must not be compromised under any circumstance.
