Veteran Nollywood actor, Dele Odule, has recounted a deeply challenging period in his early life when overwhelming frustration and financial hardship pushed him to the edge, including thoughts of taking his own life.

According to Ireporter Online, the actor made this known during an interview with Punch, where he revealed that the incident occurred in his late twenties when he was struggling to survive after leaving a stable teaching career for acting.

Odule explained that life became extremely difficult at the time, as he could barely afford a daily meal while also facing harsh criticism from people who believed he had made a wrong career choice. The constant pressure and lack of support, he said, left him emotionally drained and mentally overwhelmed.

The film star disclosed that the situation became so severe that he once contemplated ending his life and even considered buying a coffin, describing it as the lowest point of his existence, driven by hunger, disappointment, and societal judgment.

He, however, noted that a turning point came when veteran filmmaker Pa Olatunbosun Odunsi reached out to him, invited him out, and offered him counsel and encouragement during a night outing in the bush, which helped him regain hope and perspective.

Odule stressed that his account was factual and could be verified, adding that the intervention he received played a crucial role in helping him overcome the darkest phase of his life.
