Police Arrest Alleged Bandit Supplier In Kwara

The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspected member of a logistics network allegedly responsible for supplying materials to bandits and other criminal groups operating across the state.

According to official information released by the command, the suspect was apprehended in Ilorin during a coordinated operation conducted by the Violent Crime Response Unit after intelligence gathering and prolonged covert surveillance.

Police spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire Adeyemi, disclosed that investigators linked the suspect to the movement and distribution of supplies believed to be intended for criminal elements hiding in forested and remote areas of Kwara State.

She revealed that officers recovered a large quantity of assorted cigarette brands and other food items believed to be part of a supply chain servicing bandits and allied criminal groups.

Preliminary investigations, according to the police, indicate that the suspect allegedly occupied a strategic role within a wider network responsible for providing logistics, sustenance and other forms of support to criminal gangs operating in the state.

The command also disclosed that photographs retrieved from the suspect’s mobile phone showed him dressed in military camouflage and seated on a Bajaj motorcycle, a discovery investigators say has further strengthened intelligence linking him to suspected criminal associates.

The police added that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend other individuals connected to the alleged logistics network as investigations continue.

Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, assured residents that security operations across the state have been intensified to target not only armed criminals but also the collaborators, informants, suppliers and logistics structures that sustain their activities.

He stressed that the command remains committed to dismantling support networks that enable criminal groups to operate, vowing to deny them access to resources, mobility and every form of assistance required to carry out unlawful activities.

The police described the arrest as part of a broader strategy aimed at weakening the operational capacity of bandits and other criminal groups across the state.

Residents were urged to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information that could assist security agencies in identifying criminal collaborators, preventing attacks and enhancing public safety.

The command further assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that every individual found to be connected to the suspected logistics network will face the full weight of the law.
