ADC Candidate Falls To Oyebanji At Polling Unit
According to Ireporter Online, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Ambassador Dare Bejide, has lost his polling unit to the incumbent Governor, Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the ongoing governorship election.
Results announced from Polling Unit 004 in Ward 2, Ekiti South-West Local Government Area, showed that Oyebanji secured 140 votes, while Bejide polled 37 votes. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) trailed with 2 votes.
Breakdown of results: APC 140, ADC 37, PDP 2.
Meanwhile, Governor Oyebanji, who cast his vote alongside his wife at Polling Unit 003, Oyebanji’s Compound, RA 06, Ekiti West Local Government Area, expressed satisfaction with the overall conduct of the exercise. He noted that reports from across the state indicated a peaceful process and encouraging voter turnout in several communities.
The governor acknowledged reports of technical glitches in some polling units during voter accreditation, particularly issues involving electronic voter verification devices that delayed the process in certain areas. He, however, urged residents to remain calm, assuring that all eligible voters would be allowed to participate despite the challenges.
