Atiku’s Ally Quits ADC, Endorses Tinubu’s Re-Election, Slams Critics Without Solutions
An ally of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) 2027 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, Aslam Aliyu, has officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing what she described as the opposition party’s inability to provide practical solutions to Nigeria’s challenges.
According to reports, Aliyu announced her decision in a statement issued on Monday, explaining that the move followed careful reflection on the country’s political future and the opposition’s capacity to offer credible alternative leadership.
The Zamfara-born politician stated that after nearly two decades of unwavering loyalty and active participation in Atiku’s political camp, she had concluded that the opposition lacks a comprehensive development agenda capable of addressing the nation’s pressing needs.
She maintained that her decision to join the APC was motivated by a desire to contribute more effectively to national development through what she described as a more structured political platform.
Aliyu argued that the ADC has failed to present a concrete roadmap for Nigeria’s progress, accusing the party of focusing primarily on criticising the current administration without offering workable alternatives. She stressed that the country’s political culture should evolve beyond what she called theatrical criticism and instead prioritize practical policies and measurable progress.
She also appealed to Nigerian youths, women, and other opposition members whom she described as patriotic and forward-looking to support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the interest of national development.
Expressing confidence in Tinubu’s political future, Aliyu declared that there would be “no vacancy” at the Presidential Villa ahead of the 2027 general election, predicting that the President would secure a second term in office by the grace of God.
