Presidency: Rescued Oyo Children To Be Handed Over To Makinde

The Presidency has disclosed that the pupils and teachers recently rescued from captivity in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State are currently undergoing medical examinations before being handed over to Governor Seyi Makinde.

According to Ireporter Online, the Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, explained that the victims would remain under medical evaluation before their transfer to the Oyo State Government. He made the clarification while responding to inquiries over whether the rescued schoolchildren would be presented to President Tinubu.

Onanuga stated that information from the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) confirmed that once the medical assessments are completed, the victims would be formally handed over to Governor Makinde.

The Presidency had earlier announced the successful rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers, who regained their freedom after spending more than 50 days in captivity.

Reacting to the development, Governor Makinde described the rescue as a huge relief and expressed profound joy over the safe return of the victims. Speaking during a telephone interview on Friday, the governor appreciated President Bola Tinubu and the nation’s security agencies for their coordinated efforts, commitment, and sacrifice in securing the release of the children and their teachers.

Makinde added that the successful operation brought immense happiness to the state and assured residents that additional information regarding the victims and their welfare would be provided in due course.
