Kano Police Nab 28-Year-Old With 109 Ammunition Rounds, Fake Military ID

According to Ireporter Online, the suspect was apprehended in Rimaye Village, Bichi Local Government Area of Kano State, following credible intelligence received by operatives of the Bichi Police Division.

The police spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed in a statement that officers, in collaboration with members of the Rimawa community, intercepted the suspect after he was spotted wearing suspected military attire.

The suspect, identified as Mohammed Isah Haruna from Dan Dinshe Yamma Quarters in Dala Local Government Area of Kano State, was found in possession of items allegedly linked to criminal activities.

During a search, police recovered an AK-47 magazine containing 30 rounds of live ammunition, an additional 79 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, two sets of suspected military uniforms, three military caps, a suspected fake military identity card, a National Identification Number slip, a voter’s card, four ATM cards and a pair of desert boots.

The police said the suspect admitted during questioning that he was in the area to deliver the recovered items to bandits hiding in the bush.

Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised the Rimawa community for providing vital information that contributed to the arrest, describing the development as a demonstration of the importance of community involvement in tackling insecurity.

Bakori urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with useful information, stressing that maintaining peace and security requires the cooperation of both authorities and the public.

The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue to uncover other individuals allegedly connected to the suspected criminal network.
