Tinubu’s Name On Public Assets: See Full List

The Federal Government has renamed the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, adding the major infrastructure project to a growing list of public assets that now bear his name since he assumed office in May 2023.

According to Ireporter Online, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, announced the decision on Thursday, explaining that the 750-kilometre coastal highway was named in honour of Tinubu because the idea for the project was first conceived during his tenure as Governor of Lagos State nearly three decades ago.

Umahi stated that the coastal road was envisioned about 27 years ago, long before Tinubu became Nigeria’s president, adding that the renaming was in recognition of the president’s earlier vision for the project.

The latest move has increased the number of roads, government facilities, educational institutions and public infrastructure projects named after Tinubu since the beginning of his administration.

The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway became the newest addition to the list following the announcement on July 16, 2026. The federal government described the project as one of its flagship infrastructure initiatives and linked the honour to Tinubu’s role in the early conception of the coastal corridor.

In March 2024, the Abubakar Imam International Airport in Minna, Niger State, was renamed the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport by Governor Umar Bago. The governor said the decision was to acknowledge Tinubu’s contributions and support to the state, although the move attracted public attention because the airport had only recently been named after the late writer, Abubakar Imam.

In May 2024, the Abuja Southern Parkway was renamed Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. The road, which connects the Christian Centre area to Ring Road One, was renamed after undergoing reconstruction.

Also in May 2024, the National Assembly named its newly completed library after President Tinubu. The facility, which was initiated during the Ninth Assembly and completed under the Tenth Assembly, was officially inaugurated by the president.

In December 2024, the Nigeria Immigration Service named its command and control centre the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex (BATTIC). The agency said the facility would strengthen border security, migration management and technological advancement within the service.

The Federal Government in January 2025 approved the establishment of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Polytechnic in Gwarinpa, Abuja, an institution designed to promote technical, vocational and entrepreneurial education.

Later that same month, the Nigerian Army named its newly completed barracks in Asokoro, Abuja, after President Tinubu. The military said the decision was aimed at honouring the president, while the facility includes residential buildings, worship centres, sporting areas and other operational structures.

In June 2025, the Abuja International Conference Centre was renamed the Tinubu International Conference Centre after a major renovation by the Federal Capital Territory Administration. Several halls within the facility were also renamed after prominent government officials.

With the addition of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, at least eight major public assets and institutions have now been named after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu since he became president, highlighting a trend of honouring the administration’s leader through public infrastructure.
