Shettima Speaks As Zulum Celebrates Tinubu’s Impact: “We’ve Never Had It This Way

According to Ireporter Online, Zulum described the decision as a landmark moment for Borno State and the entire North-East region, noting that it represents the first time an indigene of the region has been selected for a second-term vice-presidential bid in Nigeria’s history.

The governor made the remarks while speaking with State House correspondents after President Tinubu formally presented Shettima with the certificate confirming his selection as the All Progressives Congress (APC) vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

Zulum said the renomination of Shettima was a source of pride for the people of Borno and the North-East, adding that the development deserved recognition and appreciation from leaders across the region.

He revealed that governors and other prominent leaders from the North-East would soon visit President Tinubu to formally thank him for the decision, following the President’s approval of the proposed visit.

The Borno governor also acknowledged the support of Nigerians, particularly those from Northern states, for accepting Shettima’s emergence as Vice President, stressing that the position represents the interests of the wider Northern region and not Borno State alone.

Zulum recalled that previous attempts by leaders from the region to attain the nation’s number two position had fallen short, describing Shettima’s current position and possible second-term opportunity as a significant political achievement.

He commended President Tinubu for the gesture, stating that the decision has created a historic moment that will be remembered by the people of Borno, the North-East, and Nigeria as a whole.
