Kano 2027: Gov Yusuf Unveils APC Grassroots Drive, Donates ₦100m

According to Ireporter Online, the governor launched the mobilisation initiative during an engagement with members and leaders of the APC Polling Unit Supporters Association, popularly known as ‘Yan Akwatina’, marking the beginning of the party’s strategic outreach from the polling unit level.

Speaking at the event held in Kano, Governor Yusuf said the early mobilisation effort was designed to secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, himself, and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.

The governor, who was hosted by the association’s chairman, Hon. Najib Abdulkadir Salati, stated that the re-election of President Tinubu would help sustain ongoing economic reforms and infrastructure projects being implemented by the federal government.

Yusuf stressed that strengthening the APC’s grassroots structure remained crucial to expanding the party’s support base and ensuring success across state and national elections.

As part of efforts to boost the association’s activities, the governor announced a donation of ₦100 million alongside the allocation of land to support the group’s operations.

The governor’s Political Adviser, Mustapha Hamza Buhari Bakwana, described the gathering as the official commencement of the APC’s grassroots mobilisation strategy for the 2027 polls.

Bakwana claimed that the ‘Yan Akwatina’ network had the capacity to mobilise more than 1.12 million votes for President Tinubu in the upcoming presidential election.

Meanwhile, the association’s leader, Hon. Najib Abdulkadir Salati, praised Governor Yusuf for recognising the contributions of its members and appointing several of them into positions across state and local government levels.

Salati assured the governor of the group’s commitment to delivering strong electoral support for the APC in Kano during the 2027 elections.

The Kano State APC Chairman, Hon. Umar Haruna Doguwa, also expressed confidence that the party was positioned for a major victory, noting that Governor Yusuf’s achievements had strengthened the APC’s popularity and influence in the state.

“The party will continue to consolidate its political dominance in Kano as we prepare for 2027,” Doguwa stated.

The APC Polling Unit Supporters Association maintains structures across Kano’s 44 local government areas, 484 wards, and polling units across the state, making it one of the party’s largest grassroots mobilisation platforms ahead of the 2027 elections.
