Zidane Takes Over France! Legend Named Head Coach Until 2030

According to Ireporter Online, the French Football Federation confirmed Zidane’s appointment during a press conference, with the former Real Madrid manager taking over from Didier Deschamps, who ended his successful 12-year tenure with Les Bleus.

The appointment follows earlier reports that Zidane had reached an agreement with the French Football Federation on a contract that will run until 2030. The football legend is expected to lead France at major tournaments, including the 2028 European Championship and the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

Deschamps departs after building one of the most successful records in French football history. Since assuming the role in 2012, he guided France through 187 matches, recording 122 victories, 32 draws and 33 defeats.

During his reign, Deschamps led France to World Cup glory in 2018 and helped the team reach the final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Zidane now takes charge of the national team he once captained as a player, beginning a new chapter with a side where he created some of the country’s greatest football memories.

Born in Marseille in 1972, Zidane enjoyed an outstanding playing career with clubs including Juventus and Real Madrid. He played a key role in France’s historic 1998 World Cup triumph and helped the country win the European Championship in 2000.

His individual achievements also included winning the Ballon d’Or in 1998 and being named FIFA World Player of the Year three times.

Zidane’s success continued after retirement when he moved into management. During his time at Real Madrid, he guided the Spanish giants to multiple major trophies, including La Liga titles, FIFA Club World Cups and UEFA Super Cups.

He also made history by becoming the first manager to win the UEFA Champions League three consecutive times, earning global recognition as one of football’s top coaches.

After returning to Real Madrid for a second spell, Zidane secured another La Liga title before leaving the club in 2021. He has remained away from management since then, despite receiving interest from several top teams.

The 54-year-old will begin his journey as France coach with UEFA Nations League matches against Turkey on September 26 and Belgium on September 29.

His first home fixture at the Stade de France will come on October 3, when France host Italy as Zidane begins his mission to continue the country’s football success.
