Tems Makes History, Curates Soundtrack For Major Hollywood Film

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has been announced as the executive music producer and curator of the soundtrack for Paramount Pictures’ upcoming fantasy movie, Children of Blood and Bone.

According to Ireporter Online, the announcement was made by Wilson Morales, founder of BlackFilmandTV, during the official trailer launch of the highly anticipated film in New York City.

Morales revealed that the movie’s director, Gina Prince-Bythewood, confirmed Tems’ involvement in overseeing the soundtrack production, adding that the Nigerian star has also recorded three original songs for the project.

He stated that Burna Boy would also join the production team as an executive music consultant, further highlighting the growing influence of African artists on major international projects.

Tems’ manager, Muyiwa Awoniyi, later confirmed the development through a post on X, celebrating the singer’s new achievement and revealing that fans can expect three new songs from the award-winning artiste as part of the soundtrack.

The announcement came shortly after the release of the first trailer for Children of Blood and Bone, which features Nigerian singer Ayra Starr making her acting debut. Ayra’s role in the movie has not yet been revealed, but her appearance has generated excitement among fans.

Tems’ hit song Me & U was also featured in the film’s teaser, adding another Nigerian music connection to the Hollywood production.

Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, Children of Blood and Bone features an impressive cast including Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Cynthia Erivo, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Lashana Lynch, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Ayra Starr and Damson Idris.

The movie is an adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling fantasy novel and is scheduled to hit cinemas on January 15, 2027.
