Workers Day: Mustapha Felicitates With Workers, Urges Governments To Live Up To Their Responsibilities
Former National Chairmanship aspirant in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Saliu Mustapha has hailed the commitment of the average Nigerian worker on the occasion of International workers day.
He said in a statement issued on his behalf by his media aide, Dapo Okubanjo that the country’s workforce deserves commendation for their dedication to duty.
“Today is a beautiful reminder to us all that there is no substitute for hard work and we must keep in mind that it is ‘work’ done conscientiously that defines people’s true character.
“As a nation, we have come this far because of the sacrificial dedication of the men and women in the private and public sectors who have given their lives to nation-building.
“I salute every worker out there for their commitment and service to the country, the the world is incomplete without your immeasurable contributions,” the statement added.
Mustapha who is also the Turaki of Ilorin urged governments at all level to be alive to their responsibilities to workers.
“As a firm believer in the dignity of labour, I believe that the workforce at all levels deserve to be rewarded for their effort so it is also a good time to urge people in positions of authority to do what is necessary to get the best out of the average worker.
“There is a need to be responsive to their legitimate demands because like we were admonished in the holy books of the major religions known to us , a worker is worthy of his wages.”
The Kwara Central Senatorial aspirant added that it is also a time to remember the sacrifice of a segment of the work force who are in trenches and towns, conducting internal security operations to make all Nigerians sleep well at night.
