According to Ireporter Online, FIFA has confirmed that Colombian music star Shakira will headline the official song performance of the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony scheduled to hold in Mexico City.

The global pop icon is expected to share the stage with Nigerian Grammy-winning artiste Burna Boy on June 11 at the iconic Estadio Azteca, ahead of the tournament’s opening clash between Mexico and South Africa. The duo will perform “Dai Dai,” the official tournament anthem released in May, with the title derived from an Italian expression meaning “let’s go” or “come on.”

FIFA disclosed that the opening ceremony will commence 90 minutes before kickoff and forms part of a series of coordinated ceremonies across the three host nations—Mexico, the United States, and Canada.

In an official statement, the world football governing body said the event will feature a lineup of globally renowned music acts as part of its entertainment showcase.

“The opening ceremony at Mexico City Stadium will get underway 90 minutes before kick-off,” FIFA stated.

“As previously announced, the show will feature some of the most exciting voices in global music, including Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Burna Boy, Danny Ocean, J Balvin, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, Maná, Shakira, and Tyla, all of whom will bring the sound of the Official FIFA World Cup 2026 Album to life.”

FIFA further explained that “Dai Dai” also supports the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which aims to raise $100 million by the end of the tournament to expand access to education and football opportunities for children worldwide.

Shakira is also billed for another major appearance at the tournament, as she will headline the FIFA World Cup final halftime show on July 19 alongside Madonna and BTS.
