2027: Badagry Community Urges Tinubu to Support Zoning of Lagos Governorship

Residents of the Badagry division in Lagos State have called on President Bola Tinubu to ensure that the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket for the 2027 election is zoned to their region.

The appeal was made by members of the Concerned People of Badagry Forum, who expressed frustration over what they described as historical neglect in the distribution of political leadership within the state. They argued that despite being consistent supporters of the APC and its political structure, Badagry has yet to produce a governor since Lagos was created.

Speaking to Saturday PUNCH, a chieftain of the APC and leading voice of the forum, Saka Shenayon, emphasized that the division had demonstrated unwavering commitment to the “Lagos project,” and should now be considered for the state’s top political seat.

“We are committed to presenting a credible and competent candidate and are hopeful that the party’s leadership, including the President, will support our demand,” Shenayon stated.

In a joint statement signed by Shenayon and other notable Badagry indigenes — Moses Ogunbiyi, Sejuro Samuel, Rofeequat Onabamiro, Kamoru Ajape, and Babatunde Olaide-Mesewaku — the group reiterated their plea, urging the APC to recognize the division’s loyalty and sense of justice by zoning the 2027 governorship slot to their area.

They also disclosed plans to meet with President Tinubu to formally present their case and further highlight their position within the state’s political framework.
