In an interview with the Nigerian Tribune, Makinde, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member, stated that his primary focus is on fulfilling his gubernatorial mandate rather than pursuing higher political ambitions.

“My focus at the moment is the significant work entrusted to me by the people of Oyo State,” Makinde said. “While I have made progress, there is still much more to achieve.”

When asked about possibly vying for the PDP’s presidential ticket to challenge President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027, Makinde dismissed the idea, reiterating his current priorities.

“I am not considering a presidential run in 2027,” he clarified. “My responsibility is to deliver on the mandate given to me by the people of Oyo State.”

Makinde’s remarks underscore his dedication to completing ongoing projects and fulfilling campaign promises in the state, putting to rest speculations about his political future at the national level.
