Shettima Criticizes Kemi Badenoch For ‘Disparaging’ Nigeria

During his address at the 10th Annual Migration Dialogue held at the State House in Abuja on Monday, Shettima underscored the importance of migrants as a vital asset to all societies.

He stated, “Kemi Badenoch, the leader of the British Conservative Party, is someone we take pride in, despite her attempts to denigrate her country of origin. While she is entitled to her opinions—even to the extent of removing ‘Kemi’ from her name—it does not change the fact that Nigeria is the greatest black nation on earth.”

Shettima added, “One in every three or four black men is a Nigerian, and by 2050, Nigeria is projected to be the third most populous country globally, surpassing the United States.”

Badenoch has faced backlash before for her comments regarding her upbringing in Nigeria, where she pointed out issues of corruption, unfulfilled promises, and poverty.

Reflecting on her experiences, she remarked, “I grew up in Nigeria and witnessed firsthand how politicians often prioritize their own interests. She concluded, “I have seen the harsh realities of socialism as it impacts millions. I experienced poverty and shattered dreams. I came to Britain in search of opportunities where hard work and honesty could lead to success.
