Dele Farotimi Ordered Back To Prison

Reports indicate that Farotimi was returned to prison following the court’s decision to adjourn his bail application until December 20, 2024.

Farotimi is facing charges related to defamation against Senior Advocate of Nigeria Afe Babalola in his book “Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System,” in which he accused Babalola of corrupting Supreme Court judges.

He was apprehended in Lagos and subsequently brought to Ekiti State, where he is facing a total of 16 charges. Farotimi has pleaded not guilty to all counts.

The police prosecutor requested his remand in prison while further investigations are conducted, while his attorney argued for bail on liberal terms, emphasizing the presumption of innocence.
