22 Arrested In Sokoto: Inside The Police’s Major Crackdown On Criminal ConspiracyThe Sokoto State Police Command has arrested 22 individuals linked to criminal conspiracy, theft, mischief, and possession of stolen goods.

Police Commissioner Ahmed Musa announced the arrests during a press briefing in Sokoto on Thursday, highlighting the police’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property within the state.

Musa revealed that two suspects were detained after the Manager of SAMAG Engineering Company reported the theft of aluminum conductor wires in the Goronyo Local Government Area on Friday.

Additionally, officers from the Achida Police Out Station in Wurno LGA apprehended a driver during a stop-and-search operation on Saturday.

“The aluminum conductor wires, which were vandalized and stolen, were intended for the Sokoto East electrification reconstruction project,” he explained. “During the investigation, we recovered the stolen wires, and the suspects admitted to conspiring with two others who remain at large.”

Musa further noted that the driver was found in possession of sacks filled with aluminum conductor wires, an iron cutter, and ropes. “Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to collaborating with three others involved in the vandalism of electric wires along Achida Road. He will be charged in court,” Musa added.
