23 Teenagers Arrested in Lagos for Daylight Robbery, Assault
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 23 teenagers, aged between 14 and 16, for allegedly carrying out daylight robbery, assaults, and harassment in the Mushin area of the state.
The suspects were apprehended on Monday in a coordinated police operation covering Ishaga, Awolowo, and Ojuwoye following public outcry over the rising wave of street crime.
In a statement on Tuesday, police spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin said the arrests came after “incidents of daylight assaults, harassment, and stealing from shops and innocent members of the public.”
In response, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olohundare Jimoh, has deployed tactical squads and mobile police units to reinforce security and restore order. Hundeyin confirmed that normalcy has returned to Mushin and surrounding communities.
The area commander is also working with local government officials on a strategic security plan to protect residents and traders.
The suspects will be charged in court following the conclusion of investigations. The police vowed to continue raiding known criminal hideouts until “all miscreants are removed.”
