David Ombugadu Moves To APC After Exiting PDP

Ombugadu reportedly concluded his defection to the ruling party on Tuesday, bringing clarity to mounting political speculation. He had earlier tendered his resignation from the PDP in a letter dated February 28, 2026, addressed to the chairman of Ikka Wangibi Ward in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area. In the correspondence, he stated that his decision took immediate effect.

The former lawmaker, who represented his constituency in the House of Representatives for two terms, remains a prominent figure within Nasarawa’s political space. Following his entry into the APC, Ombugadu also declared his intention to contest the Nasarawa North Senatorial District seat in the 2027 general elections, signaling what observers describe as a new phase in his political career.

Meanwhile, the PDP has reacted to his departure with a note of regret. The party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Hajiya Farida Umar, described the resignation as a painful development for the party. She emphasized the shared political journey between the PDP and Ombugadu, highlighting the collective time, commitment, and sacrifices invested during previous elections and campaigns.

Umar, however, maintained that despite the setback, the PDP remains anchored on its ideology, institutional strength, and loyal supporters, stressing that the party’s structure transcends any single individual.
