Presidency Breaks Silence On ‘Poison Plot’ Against Tinubu
The Presidency has dismissed as false a viral report alleging that a chef at the Presidential Villa in Abuja was arrested over a purported plot to poison President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to Ireporter Online, the clarification followed widespread circulation of an online publication claiming that a member of the kitchen staff at the State House had been apprehended in connection with an alleged attempt on the President’s life. The report, which lacked credible sources and verifiable details, quickly gained traction across social media platforms, triggering public speculation.
Reacting to the allegation, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Tope Ajayi, firmly refuted the claim. In a brief response to inquiries, he described the report as “fake,” dismissing it without further elaboration.
Meanwhile, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2023 general election, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has weighed in on the political climate, describing President Tinubu’s emergence as “a painful lesson from God” rather than a divine blessing for Nigerians. Speaking in Kano during a Ramadan Iftar organised by the AAFAQ Foundation, Adebayo urged citizens to reflect deeply on the nation’s trajectory and prioritise justice over division. He also recalled his campaign visit to Kano four years ago, noting that he had anticipated the country was heading toward what he described as a period of hard lessons.
