50-Year-Old Herbalist Arrested For Killing Friend To Make Ritual Soap For Yahoo Boys
A 50-year-old herbalist, Kehinde Ganiyu, has been arrested in Osun State for killing his Ghanaian friend, Emmanuel Collins, in a ritualistic act intended to create soap for internet fraudsters, commonly known as ‘Yahoo boys.’
According to Yemisi Opalola, the state police public relations officer, the incident occurred in Oba-Oke, within the Olorunda local government area of Osun State. The arrest followed investigations into the circumstances of Collins’ death.
Ganiyu, who had attended his friend’s burial, was found to be involved in the ritualistic murder. During a police raid, authorities discovered several items linked to the crime, including four blood-stained knives, a chisel, traditional gourds, a wooden pot containing black soap, sponges with black soap, a traditional tray (Opon Ifa), and local charms.
Ganiyu confessed to the crime, revealing that he killed Collins, who was ill, in order to use his throat to make ritual soap. He admitted to committing the crime while visiting Collins, attacking him with a knife. Ganiyu expressed regret over his actions, noting that he had previously provided ritual services to ‘Yahoo boys’ but had not personally handled human parts before.
Despite his remorse, Ganiyu’s actions led to his arrest following police investigations into the suspicious circumstances surrounding his friend’s death.
In a related development, a former herbalist turned pastor, Abiodun Sunday, was also reported to have been arrested for allegedly killing his wife, Tosin Oluwadare. The incident took place in Ido-Ile, Ekiti State, where the pastor is accused of strangling his wife.
