According to reports, Onanuga, who represented Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency in Ogun State, passed away on Wednesday. She was serving her second term as a lawmaker, having been first elected in 2019 and re-elected in 2023.

In a statement released on Thursday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the late Onanuga was described as a distinguished legislator and entrepreneur. The party highlighted her significant contributions to governance, particularly during her time as Chairperson of the House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development, before her promotion to Deputy Chief Whip.

Born in Hammersmith, London, on December 2, 1965, Onanuga was affectionately called “Ijaya” by her friends and colleagues. Her passion for service and dedication to her constituency made her a respected figure in Ogun State and beyond.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, the leadership and members of the House of Representatives, her constituents, and the people of Ogun State in this difficult time,” the statement read.

The APC extended its condolences to the bereaved family, the House of Representatives, and Onanuga’s constituents, praying for eternal peace for her soul.

Her sudden departure has left a void in the House and among her colleagues, who continue to celebrate her life and contributions to the nation’s development.
