Maiduguri had been a magnet for guests for days leading up to the event, with friends and associates of the political stalwart arriving in droves. The influx of visitors, which began as early as Monday, reached a peak on Saturday.
By noon, the residence of the Dalori family at Dapcharima Road in Old GRA was filled with notable dignitaries, including APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Zulum, Senator Kaka Shehu, and Minister of State for Solid Minerals Development Uba Maigari.
The grand occasion, filled with traditional elegance and vibrant celebrations, left an indelible mark on the El-Kanemi Kingdom. Hon. Dalori expressed heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming turnout, calling the show of support “unimaginable.”
Adhering to Kanuri traditions, Hon. Dalori began receiving dignitaries from early morning, including the Vice President, the APC Chairman, and other esteemed guests. The ceremony included homage-paying by the groom’s family, who offered gifts as a sign of respect to the Dalori household.
Traditional marriage rites were conducted swiftly yet solemnly, with prayers sealing the union of the newlywed couples. Following this, the couples were formally introduced to the distinguished audience, accompanied by the father-of-the-day, Vice President Shettima, and other prominent figures such as Governor Zulum, Dr. Ganduje, and former Borno State Governor Alimodu Sheriff.
Vice President Shettima praised Hon. Dalori’s virtues and urged the newlyweds to emulate his humility and character. “We are gathered here to give our daughters in marriage according to Islamic tradition. This is a moment of immense joy for any parent, and we pray the union brings blessings and happiness,” he remarked.
In his speech, Hon. Dalori expressed deep appreciation to Allah and the people of Borno for their overwhelming love and support. “The turnout, solidarity, and gifts have touched my heart profoundly. If there’s anything I have done to earn this, I pledge to continue doing it even better,” he said.
The wedding not only marked a significant cultural celebration but also underscored the enduring traditions and communal spirit of the Kanuri people.
