Abia-Governor Vows Justice For Slain Soldiers, Offers Scholarships To Families (Details)

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, responded compassionately to the recent tragedy in Aba, where five soldiers lost their lives during a sit-at-home order declared by the Indigenous People of Biafra. Governor Otti, during his condolence visit to the 144 Battalion of the Nigerian Army at Asa in Ukwa West Local Government Area, expressed deep sympathy and assured support for the affected families.

Condemning the attack as a “dastardly act” orchestrated by criminals aiming to destabilize the state, Governor Otti pledged to identify and ensure consequences for those responsible. Additionally, he announced the provision of automatic scholarships for the fallen soldiers’ children up to university level, emphasizing legislative measures to formalize and sustain these scholarships across successive administrations.

Brigadier General Olusola Diya, the Brigade Commander of 14 Brigade Ohafia, affirmed the army’s commitment to apprehending the perpetrators, highlighting ongoing intelligence efforts. He detailed the losses incurred during the attack, including the burning of two army vehicles and the theft of weapons.
