ADC Gov Candidate, Tonto Dike Adopt APC’s Tonye Cole For Rivers Governorship

The African Democratic Congress ADC, which had Tonto Dike as its Rivers State Deputy Governorship candidate, has withdrawn from the race.

The ADC announced its withdrawal from the race to form a formidable alliance with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to produce the state’s next governor.

The party’s decision was announced by its Governorship Candidate, Tonte Ibraye, at a media briefing in Port Harcourt on Thursday, which was also attended by the APC Candidate, Tonye Cole.

He claimed Cole was chosen as the “unifier of opposing parties” because of his track record as a successful businessman and a divisive politician.

Tonte Ibraye, the ADC governorship candidate, urged the other candidates in the Rivers West Senatorial District, where he and Cole are from, to support the APC.

He denied that he, Dike, or the party’s leaders were paid to make the decision.

He did, however, state that the ADC’s Assembly candidates are still running.

In response to the last-minute favorable decision, the APC candidate stated that the event marks a new beginning for Rivers State’s restoration of a progressive state.

He characterized the ADC governorship and deputy governorship candidates as people of integrity who downplayed financial gains for a progressive Rivers State.

He declared confidently that he will win the state’s governorship election on March 18.

Cole urged residents of the state to vote bravely, noting that security would be provided by the military and police.

He emphasized the importance of vote protection, urging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure that results from polling units are uploaded online.

He stated that no one can rig the election because his party, the APC, has done extensive work to ensure that no unauthorised persons are found at the state’s collation centers.
