APC Emerges Victorious In Ohunbe By-Election Amid 19-Party Contest In Ogun

According to Ireporter Online, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Moses Opeisa, has emerged victorious in the tightly contested by-election held across 24 polling units of Ohunbe Ward 8 in Yewa North Local Government Area, Ogun State.

The by-election saw participation from 19 political parties, reflecting a competitive political environment in the ward. At the conclusion of the voting exercise, the Returning Officer, Kabiru Oyeyemi, announced that Opeisa garnered 2,255 votes out of 3,263 votes cast. Voting commenced promptly at 8:00 a.m., with security personnel deployed to various polling units to ensure peace and order throughout the process.

Oyeyemi praised the conduct of the voters and acknowledged the cooperation of party agents who supervised the exercise at the polling centres.

Reacting to the results, the Chairman of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC), Babatunde Osibodu, described the by-election as peaceful and orderly. Represented by OGSIEC Board Member Ayodele Bankole, Osibodu commended the electoral officials and security officers for their professionalism during the exercise.

Oba Adekola Oladokun, the Olohunbe of Ohunbe Land, also lauded the commission for conducting a smooth, free, and credible election, emphasizing the community’s commitment to democratic participation.

The by-election was conducted to fill the councillorship seat for Ohunbe Ward 8 in Yewa North Local Government Area, ensuring the people of the community have representation at the local government level.
