operation took place over a span of one week, targeting illegal oil activities in the Niger Delta region.

According to a statement from the Acting Deputy Director of 6 Division Army Public Relations, Jonah Danjuma, the operations occurred between January 20 and 26, 2025, across Rivers, Delta, Edo, and Akwa Ibom States.

The operation saw notable successes, including the demolition of four boats, the deactivation of over 150 locally made ovens, and the seizure of more than 300,000 litres of stolen crude oil. The army also arrested 15 suspected oil thieves.

In Edo State’s Ugo Community, troops discovered a vandalized site containing 252,000 litres of stolen crude oil. Further investigations led to the recovery of a pumping machine, hoses, and pipes.

In Delta State, a red tanker truck without a license plate, which had been siphoning oil from a PAN Ocean Nigeria Limited pipeline, was intercepted. The truck had already stolen over 15,000 litres before being stopped.

Meanwhile, in Rivers State, more than 10,000 litres of stolen crude oil were confiscated along the Imo River corridor, and several illegal refining sites were uncovered.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division, Major General Emmanuel Emekah, commended the troops for their efforts in curbing oil theft, stating that the criminal elements masquerading as economic saboteurs must either change their ways or face continued military action.
