Blaze Destroys Mopol 13 Office And Armoury In Benue

According to Ireporter Online, a devastating fire destroyed the office and armoury of Mopol 13, a unit of the Nigeria Police Force, in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State. The blaze occurred in the early hours of Sunday, January 4, 2026.

Video footage circulating online showed the Mopol 13 facilities engulfed in flames, with both the office buildings and the armoury completely reduced to ashes. Witnesses described the extensive damage, noting that even the Squadron Commander’s office was affected by the fire.

A voice narrating the scene expressed shock at the scale of the destruction, stating that “everything burned” and lamenting the loss of critical police infrastructure.

As of the time of reporting, the cause of the fire had not been confirmed. Authorities have yet to determine whether it resulted from an electrical fault or another factor.
