During a visit to Bama town, where he launched the distribution of farm inputs to over 5,000 farmers, Zulum revealed that the cost of petrol, which has been between N1,000 and N1,200 per litre in Maiduguri, would now be subsidized to N600 for irrigation farmers. This step is intended to mitigate the challenges of increasing fuel prices, which have adversely impacted farming, particularly in irrigation activities.

The governor also shared that this subsidy had already yielded positive results in Damasak and Mobar Local Government Area, where food production and the livelihoods of farmers had significantly improved. He further emphasized that the agriculture commissioner would coordinate with the military brigade to ensure the efficient delivery of these subsidized petroleum products.

In addition to the fuel subsidy, Zulum provided critical farm inputs including 2,000 bags of blended NPK fertilizer, water pumps, solar water pumps, sprayers, flexible hoses, pesticides, and seeds. His administration has also constructed over 100 tube wells for irrigation purposes, with plans to build an additional 250.

Governor Zulum has been actively involved in the reconstruction and resettlement of communities affected by insurgency, ensuring that projects are executed with integrity and quality. The Borno governor has expressed appreciation for federal government support in these efforts and reiterated that no one would be allowed to undermine the resettlement program.
