BREAKING: Bandits Attack IDP Camp, Kill Family Of Six, Others

Only two years after herders attacked the Abagana IDP camp, killing seven people, suspected bandits attacked the Abagana community opposite the IDP camp on Thursday night, along the Makurdi/Laafia road.

A family of six, including a husband, wife, and four children, was among the eight people killed in cold blood on Thursday night.

To emphasize their evil deeds, the bandits severed their heads and fled with them.

According to a local, the invaders stormed the community around 9 p.m., just as people were getting ready to go to bed, and turned the sleepy community into butcher slap.

“Last night (Thursday) at about 2100hrs suspected bandits invaded Abagana community opposite the IDP camp and killed many people.

“Eight corpses including women and children have been recovered and another eight people were seriously injured and they have been evacuated to hospital for treatment.

“Some of the bodies were beheaded and the heads taken away. A man with his wife and four children were all wiped out in the attack,” the local said.

Lt.Col Paul Hemba retd, the governor’s Special Adviser on Security, confirmed the attack and called it’unprovoked.

He claimed that the villagers were about to retire for the night when they were killed by Fulani bandits.

Gbashaor Acho, Gbashaor Joseph, Anshe Dekera, Ancho Kpor, Eunice Gbashaor, Sewuese Gbashaor, Terlumun Ajoh, Emberga Gbashaor, and Donald Gbashaor were among those killed, according to Hemba.

He stated that the number of casualties is likely to rise because some of those who were fatally shot and wounded may not survive the injuries to their chest.

Hemba stated that two of those killed were IDPs, and that the bandits stole two villagers’ motorcycles.
