BREAKING: Dancing And Singing As Gov Approves N75,000 Medical, Housing Allowance For Corps Members Posted To Schools

The Taraba State Government has sanctioned an additional medical and housing allowance of N75,000 for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in schools within the state. The announcement was made in an official statement by Zainab Usman, the Commissioner for Information and Reorientation.

She specified, “In response to the pressing educational situation, His Excellency has approved significant allowances for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in Taraba State schools: an extra ten thousand naira will be included in their monthly stipend, a one-time medical allowance of fifty thousand naira, and a housing allowance of twenty-five thousand naira per term, totaling seventy-five thousand naira for three terms.”

Furthermore, outstanding corps members “who excel during their service in schools will be presented with automatic employment opportunities,” as mentioned in the statement.

The commissioner also outlined that additional measures are being introduced to ensure transparency in the enrollment and educational process in Taraba. She emphasized that the surge in new enrollments in both primary and secondary schools over the past ten working days has called for immediate action.

“Beginning this term, an ICT-based registration system will be introduced. This will be applicable to teachers, as well as new and returning students. Ensuring their registration will ensure the provision of necessary school materials upon their arrival,” the statement added.

In addition, she stated, “Uniforms, shoes, socks, and books will be provided by January to support students in their pursuit of education.” Additionally, in the coming year, the State Government will cover the examination fees for all SS3 students, allowing them to sit for both WAEC and NECO examinations.

“The schools that have reached their maximum capacity in terms of facilities will implement a shifting system temporarily while additional buildings are provided to meet the increasing demand,” the commissioner noted.
